March Newsletter

It’s March, and it’s almost time to change the clocks again. The extra daylight will be a welcome addition to our lives as we look forward to spring. During February, we provided food and essential personal items in more than 70 different cases helping families and individuals in need. We also provided several families moving out of homelessness and into their own apartment with essential household items, such as bedding, blankets, dishes, and towels.

Thank you, Stewarts!
Thank You Stewart’s Holiday Match Grant! Thank you Stewart’s Shops customers! This generous grant will help families with children facing an urgent need or crisis.

Donations
Thank you to our generous donors for keeping us well-stocked with household goods! We make sure your donations go to someone who will be able to use them. Your gently-used donations make great impact on our families’ lives. At this point, we are quite full, but we are in need of some specific household items. If you have any of the following gently used or new items to donate, please reach out to us:

  • Stovetop pots and pans
  • Coffee machine
  • Can openers
  • Twin or Full sheet sets
  • Comforters or bedspreads

As we get closer to spring, we’ll be able to accept different types of items for donations, including other household goods and clothing. As a reminder, we’re always accepting donations of new food items, personal care items, and cleaning supplies!

Outdoor Fridays
Spring is coming quick and we’re already planning ahead to resume Outdoor Fridays sometime in April, weather permitting. Outdoor Fridays is our weekly outdoor distribution event that was a huge hit last summer. We will set up in the driveway with various outreach tables and items available at no charge. These items have been generously donated by the community, and include adult and children’s clothing, infant aid items, personal care items, fresh produce, and more. Stay tuned for more details!

If you are interested in tabling at Outdoor Fridays this season, reach out to us! Last year, we hosted tables from many local agencies and made some excellent connections throughout the summer. Call us today to learn how you can host a table at Outdoor Fridays. We can’t wait to hear from you!

Upcoming Events from Tri-County United Way
Tri-County United Way is excited to be partnering with the United Way of the Capital Region to celebrate 518 Day. 518 Day is a celebration devoted to community involvement and volunteerism. They are inviting individuals, families, and groups to join our efforts by participating in a community service project or 518 Day event in May! Projects and events will be announced soon.

Tri-County United Way is celebrating 100 years of support to our communities. There will be events to celebrate this milestone in 2023, including a block party and scavenger hunt on May 20, 2023 in City Park in Glens Falls and a Gala at the Queensbury Hotel in October.  Stay tuned for details!
