August Newsletter

Happy August! Can you believe it’s the last month of summer already? During the month of July, we provided food and essential personal items in 81 different cases helping families and individuals in need. Our food pantry is open Monday through Friday from 9-3. If you or someone you know is in need of food, please give us a call to schedule a pick up.

Please note: Our food pantry will be closed the week of August 22nd during the Feet First program.

Feet First
It’s that time of year again! Our annual program, Feet First, kicks off on August 15th. Feet First provides new school shoes to eligible children going to school in the fall of 2022. This year, call-ins start Monday August 15, 2022 at 9:00 am. 518-793-0797. We will take your application over the phone, and set you up with an appointment for pick up. Eligible families are enrolled in an assistance program such as SNAP, WIC, SSI etc. Documents and verification of income and custody may be required to be submitted. Have paper and pen ready to write down appointment time and documents to submit. Appointments will be made for the week of August 22, 2022.

When you call, please talk to a staff member. Do not leave a message. Phone lines will be busy but please be patient and keep trying. Let’s help kids put their best foot forward when going back to school!

Thank You!
Thank you to the volunteers from The Victory Garden at the Rite Aid Community Garden. The produce is a happy addition to our pantry distribution.

Outdoor Fridays
August is a busy month at Family Service Association, and we’ll only be able to hold Outdoor Fridays for part of the month. There will be no Outdoor Fridays event on 8/19 or 8/26 due to our Feet First program. But you still have several weeks before that happens! We put out new items every week, so stop in and stock up on summer clothes and fresh veggies! Don’t forget to check out the outreach tables set up by various agencies when you come by. We’ve got several lined up this month, including AHI’s Health Home and EASE programs, Fidelis, and Job Corps!
