The days are getting longer, and the weather is getting warmer! During March, we provided food and essential personal items in more than 117 different cases helping families and individuals in need. Our food pantry is open Monday through Friday from 9-3. If you or someone you know is in need of food, please give us a call to schedule a pick up.

Thank you to Hannaford Helps and customers at the Broad Street Hannaford! During the month of April, Family Service Association’s food pantry will receive a $1 donation from each purchase of the $2.50 reusable Fight Hunger Bag. These donations will help support our food pantry. Thank you!

Thank you to the Elks Lodge #81 for the generous donation! Your donation will allow us to assist several people facing a crisis situation. We couldn’t do what we do without the support of the local community, so thank you for helping us make a difference in someone’s life!
Special Needs Program
This month, we were able to help a number of people through our special needs program. We helped with a car insurance payment for a couple who had to take numerous unexpected trips to healthcare specialists in Albany. They are on a very limited income and the extra gas needed ate into their budget for the month. They were very grateful for the help during this uncertain time.
We also were able to help a single mom with a rent payment to avoid eviction. She stopped receiving child support but has recently gone back to work and needed a little help with a partial rent payment. We provided the partial payment which put her back in good standing with her landlord.
We packed easy to eat food for a gentleman who has fallen on hard times. He has lost his housing and is trying to connect to appropriate services. He requested help with food. We also included items that might help him such as an Emergency Blanket, hand warmers, and basic personal care items. These helpful items came in through a donation from National Grid this year and have been well received by clients who are experiencing homelessness.

Outdoor Fridays
It’s almost time! We plan to resume Outdoor Fridays soon, maybe even by the end of the month. With the way Mother Nature is behaving lately we are holding off on choosing the exact starting date until it gets closer. Stay tuned and check our Facebook page for the official announcement.
