Happy spring! The days are getting longer, and the weather is getting warmer. In March, we provided food and essential personal items in 78 different cases helping families and individuals in need. Our food pantry is open Monday through Friday from 9-3. If you or someone you know is in need of food, please give us a call to schedule a pick up.
Thank you, Hannaford!
Thank you to Hannaford Helps and customers at the Broad Street Hannaford! During the months of March and April, Family Service Association will receive a $1 donation from each purchase of the $2.50 reusable Fight Hunger Bag. These donations will help support our food pantry. Thank you!

Glens Falls COVID-related Rent Assistance
Last month, the city of Glens Falls received funding from the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development for rental assistance under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. This funding provides rental assistance payments for tenants who found it difficult or impossible for them to pay their rent when they lost jobs or income because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Family Service Association has partnered with the city of Glens Falls to distribute these funds to eligible Glens Falls residents.
During the month of March, we were able to provide assistance to two Glens Falls families who had fallen behind on rent due to a COVID related reason. In one case, the family consists of two parents and their three young children. This family has been hit with one obstacle after another during the pandemic, and when the family came down with COVID, Dad lost his job because of the time he needed off. On top of a new baby, a house fire, and losing his job, this family fell several months behind in rent. We were able to pay 3 months of their back rent directly to the landlord and help them to move forward from the tragedies of the past year.
If you are a Glens Falls city resident or landlord and think you may qualify for assistance, please contact us to start the application process at 518-793-0797.
It’s official! We plan to resume Outdoor Fridays on April 29th, weather permitting. Stop by on the last Friday in April between 10 and 3 for our outdoor distribution event. Are you an agency who may be interested in hosting an outreach table one week? Reach out to us for details because we’d love to have you!
Please note, parking for Outdoor Fridays is only available on the street in front of our building. Please DO NOT park in the neighbor’s lot.
